Day 6 - Going to the Bükk Hills

Pre-breakfast birdwatching around the Hotel. The area is excellent for birds of prey, small passerines, Woodpeckers, and other forest birds that we look for just before breakfast.
Morning birding in Zemplém Hills than facing to the Bükk Hills, what is a platau. Visiting the areas of the foot of Zemplém and Bükk Hills, where a Saker and an Imperial Eagle could be present. Checking a reservoir at the foot of Bükk Hills what could be excellent for waterbirds at this time of the year. Looking for Syrian Woodpecker at the local villages as well. Visiting a glamour meadow for Raptors, Bee-eaters, and a group of a famous Grey Cattles. Our hotel is situated at the foot of the Bukk National Park; it has fantastic local cuisine and wines, especially to famous "Bulls blood"!

Day 7 - Birding around the Bükk Hills

Pre-breakfast birdwatching around the Hotel exploring the nearby wetlands where small passerines are quite numerous and the Middle Spotted Woodpecker is a resident bird. Serin, Black Redstart, Linnet and Hawfinch are also on the agenda.
Today we are gooing to explore one of the most remote places of the Bukk forest, called Hór valley. Here we look for White-backed Woodpecker, along with other woodpecker species, such as Black, Grey-headed, Green, Lesser Spotted, Middle Spotted, and other forest birds, including Raven, Northern Goshawk, Hawfinch while Rock Bunting often calls from patches of scrub. In the afternoon we are going to visit another location on the Bükk plateau, following the road in Hór valley where we hope to find an Ural Owl. We will be waiting, and walking around a small meadow, which is the hunting area of a resident pair. If we are fortunate we can see the owl, and with great luck we can spot it in its roosting tree. We will also make an optional visit to an excellent wine-cellar this evening as this is one of Hungary´s very best wine areas.

Day 8 - Way back to Budapest

Traditional pre-breakfast birdwatching around the Hotel and a small wetlands nearby.
Travel back to Budapest. On our last day in the region we will have some time to stop en-route to Budapest Airport to catch some more magic moments and look for extra species.
